Pharmacy Technology
Carrington’s Pharmacy Technology program provides both theory and practical training, which enables technicians, upon licensure*, to function as a competent entry-level assistant to a licensed pharmacist.
Courses cover topics including knowledge of pharmacy calculations, drug distribution systems, characteristics of drugs, and how to prepare sterile dosage forms.
The online degree program, which is only offered to graduates of the Certificate of Achievement program within the State of California,includes a broad base of general education course offerings focusing on:
- Computer literacy
- English writing and composition/li>
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social sciences
*States vary in terms of certification, licensure and scope of practice for pharmacy technicians. Generally, students must register with their state’s Board to become a pharmacy technician in-training. Timeframes for completion vary by state, but all states require that pharmacy technicians attain licensure.
Graduates of the Spokane program are approved to practice in the State of Washington.

Diploma Programs
Students in Carrington College’s Dental Assisting program begin with a broad base of knowledge on subjects ranging from anatomy of the head and mouth to sterilization techniques to front-office operations. Students’ progress to learning specific skills and building their understanding of dental procedures performed in dental offices. As they near the end of their studies, Dental Assisting students complete an externship.

Technical coursework in Carrington College’s Massage Therapy program covers anatomy and physiology, terminology, function and structure of the body’s muscular, skeletal and internal systems, and ethical, legal and business concerns.

Class instruction combines theory and practice to meet the competencies needed to be a medical biller and coder. Students learn to accurately interpret medical records and code the information for submission to insurance companies.

Students in the Physical Therapy Technology program practice a range of skills that encompass anatomy and physiology, pathologies, medical terminology, therapeutic exercises and a wide range of modality applications that would include ultrasound, electrical stimulation, therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy and others.

The program concludes in an externship that allows students to practice skills in an actual veterinary health care setting.

They also perform laboratory tests and take blood samples, assist with dental care, prepare tissue samples, and assist veterinarians in a variety of other diagnostic tests and procedures. Veterinary technicians work in all phases of animal care, including surgical nursing, laboratory procedures, and office administration. Employment opportunities include positions in veterinary offices or hospitals, biomedical research institutions, zoological facilities, and pharmaceutical and pet care industries.
