Liberty University’s 100% online Master of Science (M.S.) in Public Safety - Homeland Security degree is designed to help students qualify for a wide range of positions within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other agencies at all levels of government. This degree program is for those students who are passionate about protecting the public from harm and can apply to skilled and qualified leaders in first response and public safety organizations. This degree was developed to meet the need of those who are working in the collaborative and interdisciplinary public safety field. Managing resources and coordinating between multilevel and multijurisdictional agencies takes a broad understanding of the processes involved and this degree offers that. Students will gain valuable industry knowledge such as crisis and first responder training skills and techniques. Further skills that can be gained are best practices for risk assessment, hazard identification, vulnerability assessment, and impact analysis. Upon graduation, students can pursue roles as Homeland Security planners, security officers, community service managers, emergency management directors, law enforcement officers, public safety compliance officers, public safety training officers, and security management consultants.
