Master of Education - School Safety, Security and Emergency Management

National University’s Master of Education with a specialization in School Safety, Security, and Emergency Management will help you develop your fundamental knowledge and skills related to teaching, learning, and student support. This specialization offers certified teachers and classified staff three distinct and connected domains: school safety, school security, and school emergency management. You will learn about diverse topics such as technologies to manage safety, security, and emergencies; threat assessments of people and facilities; restorative justice and other alternatives to student discipline; and how to contribute, implement, and improve school safety plans through a practitioner’s perspective. This is an important practice that both school administrators and teaching staff would benefit from by improving both day-to-day operations, and school morale. Students who feel safe and secure at school are better able to learn by engaging the curriculum, teachers, and peers. You will demonstrate your proficiency through a capstone project in the final course.
