Associate of Applied Science - Surgical Technician

At Southern Technical College, our Surgical Technician program, can prepare you to work as a surgical technician in a lifesaving team in a fast-paced, challenging setting, such as a hospital, medical center or surgical center. Do you have what it takes to work in a pressure-filled environment that requires close attention to even the smallest details?

In this Surgical Technician program, you can prepare to become a competent, entry-level surgical technician by taking courses with a focus on the Patient Simulation Center. The Patient Simulatin Center will provide students with “real life” scenarios of a demanding clinical environment. The combination of learning from lecture, simulation and clinical setting with help you transition from the classroom to the professional world, upon graduation.

This program is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, which allows you to sit for the certification exam in surgical technology given by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). After passing this internationally recognized exam, you will earn the credential of Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
